‘Virgin and Child’ Painting Adorns New Forever Stamp
The U.S. Postal Service is dedicating a new Christmas stamp featuring “Virgin and Child,” an oil-on-panel painting from the first half of the 16th century by an unidentified Florentine artist known as “the Master of Scandicci Lamentation.” The first-day-of-issue event for the Forever stamp is free and open to the public for those who have RSVP’d. News of the stamps is being shared with the hashtag #VirginAndChildStamp.

Pony Cars Forever Stamps Issued at the Great American Stamp Show
Today, adventurous young — and young-at-heart — drivers enjoy the thrill of driving pony cars. The Pony Cars Commemorative Forever pane of 20 stamps will always be equal in value to the current First-Class Mail 1- ounce price. September AP Now Available Online
The latest issue of The American Philatelist is now available to read online here for APS members. The American Philatelist is the oldest continuously published philatelic journal in the world, the first issue having appeared in January 1887. All of our articles are written by our members and feature colorful illustrations. The magazine is available in print and in digital formats for maximum flexibility and access.

This Day in History – First Airmail Stamps of Ecuador and more
On this day in 1807, Curacao was occupied by the British, who established a post office at Willemstad to serve the islands of Curacao, Aruba, and Bonaire. Frank, a former savings and loan executive, announced that a U.S. postage stamp commemorating Elvis Presley would be issued in 1993. U.S. Postal Service Announces Proposed Temporary Rate Adjustments for 2022 Peak Holiday Season
The United States Postal Service filed notice today with the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) regarding a temporary price adjustment for key package products for the 2022 peak holiday season. This temporary rate adjustment is similar to ones in past years that help cover extra handling costs to ensure a successful peak season. Click here for more information about the adjustments.
Stamp of the Week!
The stamp of this week is Panama Scott 11. It is one of the first stamps released by the country, issued in 1887. The design is a map of Panama, and the denomination of the stamp is 10 cents. The stamp is part of a series that features Issues of Colombia for use in the department of Panama, since Panama was a part of Colombia until a revolt in 1903. All of the stamps in the set have a perforation of 12.5 except two variants with a perforation of 13. The main difference between the forgery and the genuine stamp is in the color. The genuine stamp is black and yellow, while the reprint is black and straw.
